I like to photograph and I even have my own photography blog.
My name is Herman van Bon, original Dutch but living in Stanford, Western Cape, South Africa.
In Holland I was a free-lance photo journalist until my move to South Africa in 2000. Between 2000 and July 2011 me and my wife Yvonne were full time involved in the restoration and extension of a historical cactus garden (we also created the largest hedge maze in the world) in the Klaas Voogds area near Robertson; 125 km from here.
After this adventure we needed a break and we did get a social life again!
Midst 2012 we started to think of new ways of making an income. We don’t have to but life is empty without setting goals, etc. But we do it in rural pace; Yvonne with jewelry and me with photography. In 2013 some of my work was presented to gallery owners from all over in group exhibitions in New York (August) and Paris (November). From there on I’ll see.
Locally I also do portrait and landscape photography, partly for social media networks and partly on commission (but only if I want to).
I don’t share the work of other photographers/artists on my photography blog but I do see and like so many other photographers’ works; hence this blog in which I share every now and than my choice of beauty.
Hope you will like it!
