Shark Fin Cove – Turbulence

Just Beautiful!!!

Laura Macky Photography

Normally I don’t do smaller shots like this but I wanted to show the enormity of the scene at Shark Fin Cove in a more impactful way, so out came the zoom.

My 28-300mm was very handy in this shot, and at 100m, a nice sweet spot on this lens.  While long exposures seem to be all the rage, I didn’t think a long exposure’s softness would tell the story I wanted which is power and turbulence at its fullest, so I set my shutter speed to 1/1000s to stop the action and used the vibration reduction switch on my lens.

To polish the image I used Topaz Clarity and some levels in photoshop but honestly, I didn’t do too much with this.  I didn’t want to take away from the scene and it seems like anything else would’ve muddied the waters (so to speak) in this case.  🙂
